What is ISO 464 - radial bearings with locating snap ring about?
Roller bearings transmit loads by using cylinder rolling elements rather than balls to maintain the bearing's separation between moving parts. ISO 464 is an International Standard that discusses rolling bearings.
ISO 464 specifies the snap ring groove dimensions and tolerance values, chamfer dimensions on the snap ring groove side of the outer ring, and the snap ring dimensions and tolerance values for radial bearings in the dimension series 18 and 19 and the diameter series 0, 2, 3, and 4 (except dimension series 00, 82, and 83), as specified in ISO 15[1].
Who is ISO 464 - radial bearings with locating snap ring for?
ISO 464 on radial bearings with locating snap ring is useful for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of radial bearings
- Designers of radial bearings
- Mechanical engineers
- Automotive industry
- Electrical engineers
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use ISO 464 - radial bearings with locating snap ring?
A snap ring, also known as a retainer ring, is a fastener that secures a bearing in an application. A shoulder is created by a piece of the retaining ring protruding from the groove, preventing components from moving during operation.
ISO 9628 provides guidance on characteristics, snap ring groove and chamfer dimensions and tolerance values, snap ring dimensions and tolerance values, symbols. Adopting a standardized design framework can ensure that assembly components are aligned as per your specific engineering needs for overall efficient functioning.
If you are a manufacturer, you can impart excellent service, assisting in improved performance across a wide range of end-use applications.
