What is ISO 484-1 - Ship screw propellers about?
ISO 484-1 is a series of international standards on ship screw propellers that discusses the best procedures to determine manufacturing tolerances of ship screw propellers. ISO 484-1 is the first part of a series of documents on shipbuilding. ISO 484-1 defines manufacturing tolerances of ship screw propellers of a diameter greater than 2,50 m.
NOTE: Some deviations for the tolerance are permitted in certain cases subject to the discretion of the customer or of the designer and the customer.
Who is ISO 484-1 - Ship screw propellers for?
ISO 484-1 on ship screw propellers is relevant to:
- Manufacturer of ship screw propellers
- Shipping industry
- Marine engineer
Why should you use ISO 484-1 - Ship screw propellers?
Ship screw propeller is a rotary propelling device, as for a ship or airplane, consisting of a number of blades that radiate from a central hub and are so inclined to the plane of rotation as to tend to drive a helical path through the substance in which they rotate.
ISO 484-1 provides guidance on methods for measuring pitch, methods for measuring the thickness of the section, accuracy classes, tolerances on the pitch, tolerances on the extreme radius of the screw propeller, tolerances on the thickness of the blade section.
As a user of ISO 484-1, you can be ensured of manufacturing tolerances of ship screw propellers. These help you in manufacturing high-quality ship screw propellers. With ISO 484-1 you can be ensured of test methods used to determine manufacturing tolerances
