What is ISO 50046‒Predicting energy savings about?
ISO 50046 is an international standard that deals with solutions for energy management and energy savings.
ISO 50046 specifies general methods for the calculation of predicting energy savings (PrES), using measure-based calculation methods, also known as bottom-up or energy performance improvement actions (EPIAs)-based methods.
ISO 50046 provides general principles for categorizing and choosing the method, taking account of the context, targeted accuracy, and resources available for calculating the predicted energy savings (PrES).
Note: Indicator-based methods and total-consumption-based methods are not included in the scope of ISO 50046.
Who is ISO 50046‒Predicting energy savings for?
ISO 50046 on predicting energy savings is for:
- Private or public organizations looking for energy savings solutions
- Energy auditors
- Energy services companies
- Energy and equipment suppliers
- Policy-makers dealing with energy conservations
Why should you use ISO 50046‒Predicting energy savings?
ISO 50046 provides you with general methods that enable the calculations for predicting energy savings (PrES). It gives you an ideal process to increase the transparency of data and calculations used for predicting energy savings, ensuring the high quality of the PrES.
ISO 50046 helps you ensure satisfactory results in PrES for the relevant users, as it provides an adequate procedure for selecting among energy savings opportunities, investment decisions, and accounting or crediting energy savings.
ISO 50046 provides you with the methods that can be used in the context of energy audits, energy savings obligations, energy efficiency portfolio standards, voluntary agreements, or energy performance contracting. It also gives you guidance on the conditions for validating and documenting the calculations of PrES, which proves to be important as it adds value by increasing the credibility and reliability of the method chosen.
