What is ISO 5053‑1 about?
ISO 5053‑1 is the first part of the ISO 5053‑1 series of standards that establishes the vocabulary of industrial trucks.
For the purposes of ISO 5053‑1, industrial trucks are wheeled vehicles having at least three wheels with a powered or non-powered driving mechanism — except those running on rails — which are designed either to carry, tow, push, lift, stack, or tier in racks any kind of load, and which are controlled either by an operator or by driverless automation
Who is ISO 5053‑1 for?
ISO 5053‑1 on types of industrial trucks is useful for:
- Industrial truck manufacturers
- Truck operators
- Truck servicemen
- Safety regulatory bodies
Why should you use ISO 5053‑1?
Industrial trucks are the trucks that can be used within the factory or warehouse premises.
With an industrial truck, you can carry the load in variable paths according to your needs. There are several different types of industrial trucks, like- hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklift trucks, etc.
It’s important to know the different types of industrial trucks. The scope of industrial trucks can include both small, hand-operated devices, and large-scale motorized vehicles. Some items can be driven, while others – such as pallet trucks – simply add mobility to the materials that are being handled. ISO 5053‑1 helps the purchaser to be able to purchase the correct truck he needs for goods handling. Industrial trucks have the capability to lift via powered or manual means and can be ridden upon in a driver’s cab, or simply power-assisted when pushed. ISO 5053‑1 provides the characteristics of the trucks so that the user knows the functions and operations for the particular truck. Today it has become increasingly important for companies to choose facilities that fit their particular needs well. And ISO 5053‑1 helps them choose the appropriate truck and equipment according to their need.
