What is ISO 52031 about?
ISO 52031 describes the required inputs, outputs, and links(structure) of the calculation method for heating and cooling space emission systems. ISO 52031 is an international standard that provides for the efficient calculation of system energy requirements and system efficiencies in space emission systems.
ISO 52031 applies to the energy performance calculation of heating systems and water-based cooling space emission sub-systems.
ISO 52031 specifies the structure for calculation of the additional heat and cooling losses and energy requirements of the heat and cooling emission system.
Who is ISO 52031 for?
ISO 52031 on space emission systems is relevant to:
- Emission system manufacturers
- Developer
Why should you use ISO 52031?
ISO 52031 is part of a series that aims at harmonizing methodology for assessing the energy performance of buildings and is referred to as a “set of EPB standards”.
EPB standards follow specific rules to ensure overall consistency, unambiguity, transparency and bring certain flexibility with regard to the methods, the required data, and reference.
The EPB series covers:
- Energy performance calculation for heating systems
- Inspection of heating systems
- Design of heating systems
- installation and commissioning of heating systems
ISO 52031 assists in providing all the required information regarding methods for calculation of energy losses/requirements of space heating and cooling systems, space cooling systems, and domestic hot water systems in buildings.
ISO 52031 provides guidance in bringing uniformity among methods used for the calculation of emission systems.
ISO 52031 provides for optimization of the energy performance of a planned heat emission system or cooling system, by applying the most appropriate method to several possible options.
Efficient optimization of the energy performance can enhance the efficiency of space emission systems and can make them more sustainable.
