What is ISO 5834-1:2019-Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene in powder form about?
ISO 5834 is an international standard that discusses ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene for surgical implants. ISO 5834-1 provides the best industry guidance on the moulding materials in powder form to standardize the quality of surgical implants.
ISO 5834-1 is the first part of a multi-part series that outlines the requirements and corresponding test methods for moulding materials in powder form made from ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) for use in the manufacture of surgical implants.
Not only that, flow properties and limitations to contamination for Ultra High molecular weight polyethylene are also mentioned under ISO 5834-1.
Note: ISO 5834-1 does not apply to finished products.
Who is ISO 58341 - Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene in powder form for?
ISO 58341 on ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene in powder form is useful for:
- Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene manufacturers
- Medical laboratories
- Regulatory authorities
Why should you use ISO 58341 - Ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene in powder form?
Ultra-High molecular weight polyethylene is a very high viscosity polymer that is produced in powdered form. It has outstanding abrasion resistance, chemical resistance and is good in frictional properties, due to these outstanding factors Ultra-High molecular weight polyethylene includes bulk material handling.
ISO 58341 guideline assists you with classification, designation, coding, manufacturing requirements, and flow properties for ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene for surgical implants. ISO 58341 guides on ash elements, traces elements, particulate matter to evaluate limits of contamination for ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene for surgical implants.
ISO 58341 also provides tests methods on elongational stress, viscosity number, ash content, trace elements, and particulate matter for ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene for surgical implants.
With compliance and obedience to ISO 58341, you can standardize the quality of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene in powder form for surgical implants and efficiently assess ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene in powder form for surgical implants.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 58341:2019 supersedes ISO 58341:2005, which is withdrawn. BS ISO 58341:2019 has made editorial updates that are in line with all other parts of the ISO 5834 series compared to ISO 58341:2005.
