What is ISO 6480 - Test conditions for broaching machines about?
ISO 6480 specifies, with reference to ISO 230-1, the geometric tests on internal type broaching machines with horizontal Z-axis providing the main cutting motion. ISO 6480 specifies the applicable tolerances corresponding to the tests mentioned above for normal accuracy horizontal internal type broaching machines.
ISO 6480 explains concepts or configurations and common features of horizontal internal type broaching machines. ISO 6480 provides related terminology and designation of axes. ISO 6480 deals only with the verification of the accuracy of the machine.
Note: ISO 6480 does not apply to the operational testing of the machine (e.g. vibration, abnormal noise, the stick-slip motion of components), nor to machine characteristics (e.g. speeds, feeds) as such checks are generally carried out before testing the accuracy.
Who is ISO 6480 - Test conditions for broaching machines for?
ISO 6480 on test conditions for broaching machines is useful for:
- The automotive industry
- The heavy engineering industry
- Manufacturers of broaching machines
Why should you use ISO 6480 - Test conditions for broaching machines?
The objective of ISO 6480 is to supply information as wide and comprehensive as possible on tests on horizontal internal type broaching machines which can be carried out for comparison, acceptance, maintenance or any other purposes.
A broaching machine is a tool used to finish surfaces by drawing or pushing a broach cutter completely over and past the surface. A broach is made up of a row or rows of cutting teeth that are graded in height from the teeth that cut first to the teeth that cut last. ISO 6480 establishes the tolerances for the test results corresponding to general purpose and normal accuracy horizontal internal type broaching machines.
What’s changed since the last update?
