What is ISO 6798-3 - Sound pressure measurement about?
ISO 6798-3 is an international organisation for standardization that specifies the measurement method of sound power level for reciprocating internal combustion engines, which is a survey method for use in situ.
ISO 6798-3 applies to all reciprocating internal combustion engines falling within the field of application of ISO 30461 and other internal combustion engines where no suitable international standard exists.
Note: In ISO 6798-3, reciprocating internal combustion engines are referred to as engines unless otherwise explained.
Who is ISO 6798-3 - Sound pressure measurement for?
ISO 6798-3 on sound pressure measurement is useful for:
- The mining industry
- Aircraft noise maintenance officers
- Entities involved in environmental checks
- Industrial equipment sound check personnel
Why should you use ISO 6798-3 - Sound pressure measurement?
The measurement result of sound power level has nothing to do with the test environment and the installation conditions of the noise source, which is one of the important reasons for using sound power level to characterize the noise radiation of different types of machinery and equipment. ISO 6798-3 can be used to calculate the sound power level by using the sound pressure level on a measurement surface enveloping a noise source.
ISO 6798-3 provides its users with guidelines for conducting the tests along with the test environment, instrumentation, operation conditions, measurement, and calculations.
Using ISO 6798-3 guidelines ensures safety and protection, quality assurance, and helps prevent noise pollution.
