What is ISO 6930 - High yield strength steel plates and wide flats about?
ISO 6930 is an international standard on steel plates and wide flats that discusses the best procedures and specifications required for manufacturing high yield strength steel plates and wide flats by cold forming.
ISO 6930 specifies the requirements for weldable high yield strength plates and wide flats for cold forming.
ISO 6930 does not apply to weldable structural steels, whether or not of special quality, which is covered by other International Standards, namely:
- Structural steels: ISO 630 (all parts);
- High yield strength flat steel products: ISO 4950‑1, ISO 4950‑2 and ISO 4950‑3;
- Hot-rolled steel sheet of higher yield strength with improved formability: ISO 5951;
- Sheet and strip: refer to ISO/TC 17, Steel, SC 12, Continuous mill flat-rolled products;
- Tubular products; refer to ISO/TC 5, Ferrous metal pipes and metallic fittings, SC 1, Steel tubes.
Who is ISO 6930 - High yield strength steel plates and wide flats for?
ISO 6930 on high yield strength steel plates and wide flats is relevant to:
- Manufacturer of steel plates and wide flats
Why should you use ISO 6930 - High yield strength steel plates and wide flats?
Steel Plate, wide flats are commonly used to strengthen foundations and uphold mass units of weight like bridges. Alternatively, it provides a base for the construction of larger materials and non-workable parts.
ISO 6930 provides guidance on dimensions and tolerances, classification and designation, technical requirements, mechanical properties, inspection and testing.
ISO 6930 exemplifies the required chemical composition and mechanical properties for steel grades which help you achieve precision in terms of the product specification.
As a user of ISO 6930, you can be ensured of all the properties of steel plates and wide flats. With obedience and compliance to ISO 6930, you can efficiently manufacture high yield strength steel plates and wide flats by cold forming. ISO 6930 helps you to build consumer trust and confidence in the product. With ISO 6930 you can be ensured that the products consistently meet and exceed quality assurance targets.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 6930:2019 cancels and replaces ISO 6930‑1:2001 and ISO 6930‑2:2004, which have been technically revised.
