ISO 702-1 is the first part of the ISO 702 series that discusses machine tools. This international standard helps its users to produce conical spindle noses and work holding chucks with better connections.
ISO 702-1 specifies the sizes for interchangeability of conical spindle noses and corresponding connecting faces of faceplates or work holding chucks.
Who is ISO 702-1 - Conical spindle noses and work holding chucks for?
ISO 702-1 on conical connections for spindle noses and work holding chucks is useful for:
- Manufacturers of machine tools
- Designers of machine tools
- Quality control personnel
Why should you use ISO 702-1 - Conical spindle noses and work holding chucks?
Spindle noses connect to work holding chucks to hold drill bits or end mills. These tools need to be defect-free as they rotate these drills and mills at high speed and any loose connection between the parts can compromise the functionality of the machine.
Although there are differences in the values of dimensions and assembly screws in metric and inch series, the connecting dimensions in ISO 702-1 allow for interchangeability between metric- and inch-based chucks.
Overall, the guidelines of ISO 702-1 help you to produce high-quality components (spindle noses and work holding chucks) that are easy to assemble.
