What is ISO 7685 – Glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) pipes about?
ISO 7685 discusses glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) pipes. ISO 7685 specifies methods for determining the initial ring stiffness of glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) pipes.
Two methods are given (constant load and constant deflection), and within the specified deflection limits, each is equally valid and can be used for any diameter.
Who is ISO 7685 – Glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) pipes for?
ISO 7685 on glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) pipes is useful for:
- GRP pipes manufacturers
- Pipe manufacturers
- Quality control personnel
- GRP pipes testing laboratories
Why should you use ISO 7685 – Glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) pipes?
GRP pipe (Glass fibre Reinforced Plastic) is a pipe made of two or more different materials, the qualities of which combine to provide superior strength. GRP pipes consist of vinyl ester resins, or unsaturated polyester, glass fibre pieces and reinforcing agents.
ISO 7685 provides you with terms and definitions required for the functionality of determining of initial ring stiffness of glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP) pipes. ISO 7685 guides you with the apparatus, test pieces and conditioning required for the test. ISO 7685 provides you guidance on test procedures and calculations and helps with the test reports. ISO 7685 helps to prevent the failure of pipes when subjected to real loads.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 7685:2019 supersedes BS ISO 7685:1998. BS ISO 7685:2019 includes some technical changes with respect to BS ISO 7685:1998. These include:
- Added recommendations for the parallelism of the plates/bars
- Added preload dependent on DN sizes
- Taring requirements of load and deflection after preload have been added and before the start of testing
