What is ISO 7902‑3 standard about?
ISO 7902‑3 is the third part of a series of documents on cylindrical bearings. ISO 7902‑3 specifies empirical permissible values for hlim, Tlim and plim. The empirical values stated can be modified for certain applications, for example, if the information supplied by the manufacturer is to be taken into account.
The descriptions of the symbols and calculation examples are given in ISO 7902-1.
Who is ISO 7902‑3 standard for?
ISO 7902‑3 on circular cylindrical bearings is relevant to:
- Manufacturer of hydrodynamic plain journal bearings
- Suppliers and customers of hydrodynamic plain journal bearings
- Mechanical engineer
- Mechanical drafters
Why should you use ISO 7902‑3 standard?
Hydrodynamic journal bearing is a bearing operating with hydrodynamic lubrication, in which the bearing surface is separated from the journal surface by a lubricant film generated by the journal rotation
ISO 7902‑3 provide information on minimum permissible lubrication film thickness, effective waviness and maximum permissible effective waviness, operational parameters to avoid excessive mechanical loading, excessive thermal loading, operational parameters for the bearing clearance
As a buyer of ISO 7902‑3, you can be ensured of empirical permissible values, operational parameters required for the design and operation of oil-lubricated hydrodynamic plain bearings. ISO 7902‑3 assist the user in determining the performance and sufficient operational safety of bearings. ISO 7902‑3 helps you in manufacturing high quality hydrodynamic plain bearings. With the necessary guidance and compliance to ISO 7902‑3, the user can improve the quality and operation of oil-lubricated hydrodynamic plain bearings.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 7902‑3:2020 supersedes BS ISO 7902‑3:1998, which is withdrawn
The changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
- Adjustment to ISO/IEC Directives, Part 2:2018;
- Correction of typographical errors.
