What is ISO 8066‑3 about?
The ISO 8066 series discusses hose assemblies for automotive air conditioning. ISO 8066‑3 specifies the requirements for rubber or thermoplastic hoses and hose assemblies used for circulating liquid and gaseous R1234yf (tetrafluoropropene) in the air-conditioning systems of automobiles. The hoses and hose assemblies are designed in such a way as to restrict losses of refrigerant and contamination of the system. The operational temperature range is −40 °C to +125 °C.
Due to the critical relationship between the hose and coupling for this application, a requirement that the coupling to be used in service be used for testing has been laid down.
Who is ISO 8066‑3 for?
ISO 8066‑3 on rubber and plastics hoses for automotive air conditioning is useful for:
- Automobile manufacturers
- Automobile engineers
- Quality control personnel
- Maintenance personnel
Why should you use ISO 8066‑3?
Rubber and plastic hoses and hose assemblies meant for automobile air conditioning act as connectors between various components of the vehicles air conditioning system. These hoses carry high-temperature airflow and low-temperature airflow at the same time in different phases of air conditioning. Since they undergo these constant changes in temperature, they are vulnerable to physical property changes. These changes can be minor and acceptable but if not then they can compromise the air conditioning system.
ISO 8066‑3 helps you to classify different types of rubber and plastic hoses for automotive air conditioning. ISO 8066‑3 helps to produce/ install suitable hoses in the vehicle by giving you the specified dimensions of hoses and hose assemblies. ISO 8066‑3 also provides test methods like leakage test, vacuum resistance and low-temperature test. These test methods are prepared considering the conditions the hoses have to endure in their operational cycle and help you to evaluate your product’s performance.
