What is ISO 8080 - Anodic treatment of titanium about?
ISO 8080 is part of the aerospace series.
ISO 8080 discusses the anodic treatment of titanium and titanium alloys. ISO 8080 specifies the requirements for producing and testing unsealed anodic coating on titanium and titanium alloys for aerospace applications.
The anodic coating is produced by the sulfuric acid process and used with solid film lubricants for protection of titanium fasteners against galling, for limited protection of less noble metals against galvanic corrosion when in contact with titanium, or for other approved uses.
Who is ISO 8080 - Anodic treatment of titanium for?
ISO 8080 on aerospace series for the anodic treatment of titanium and titanium alloys is applicable to these entities:
- Space probe/space shuttle manufacturers
- Aircraft manufacturers
- Suppliers to the aerospace industry
- Defence industry
- Titanium alloy manufacturers
- Quality control / safety / compliance / audit professionals
Why should you use ISO 8080 - Anodic treatment of titanium?
Titanium and its alloys are desirable due to their anti-corrosive qualities and fuel efficiency when used in aerospace engineering.
ISO 8080 provides you with quality guidelines for the anodic coating solution that protects the metal surface from corrosion in aerospace applications.
ISO 8080 walks you through technical requirements such as process details, preparation for anodizing, and the anodizing procedure. The quality section of ISO 8080 includes guidelines for the inspection, visual examination, and approval of titanium and titanium alloy parts. Packaging and delivery guidelines are also given in ISO 8080.
Following ISO 8080 guidelines, you would comply with industry standards and manufacture superior quality parts. Obtaining ISO 8080, you can demonstrate the reliability of your titanium alloy products, and build trust in their use throughout the aerospace supply chain.
