What is ISO 8082-1 - Tests and performance requirements for roll-over protective structures about?
ISO 8082-1 is the first part of the ISO 8082 multi-series regarding self-propelled machinery for forestry.
ISO 8082-1 establishes a consistent, reproducible means of evaluating the force-deflection characteristics of roll-over protective structures (ROPS) on self-propelled forestry machines under static loading, and prescribes performance requirements for a representative specimen under such loading.
ISO 8082-1 is applicable to forwarders, skidders, feller-bunchers, processors, harvesters and log loaders, as defined in ISO 6814.
Note: ISO 8082-1 is not applicable to machines having a rotating platform with a cab and boom on the platform, which are addressed by ISO 8082-2.
Who is ISO 8082-1 - Tests and performance requirements for roll-over protective structures for?
ISO 8082-1 on laboratory tests and performance requirements for rollover protective structures is useful for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of forestry equipment
- Product designers
- Quality control and inspection authorities
- Forest department
- National and local regulatory authorities
- Testing laboratories
Why should you use ISO 8082-1 - Tests and performance requirements for roll-over protective structures?
Roll-over protective structures (ROPS) are a system of structural members whose primary purpose is to reduce the possibility of a seat-belted operator being crushed should the machine roll over. These structures need to meet their performance requirements as failing to do so could compromise the safety of the operator in the event of an accident.
ISO 8082-1 specifies various performance requirements for ROPS that need to be verified at production level. Meeting these requirements can ensure the durability and structural integrity of the ROPS. ISO 8082-1 also guides you on the test procedures that can help you to verify these performance requirements.
Overall, the guidelines of ISO 8082-1 enable you to produce self-propelled forestry machines with enhanced safety by ensuring the build quality of roll-over protective structures.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 8082-1:2009+A1:2021 superseded BS ISO 8082-1:2009. The addition of clause 7 is the only change in BS ISO 8082-1:2009+A1:2021 as compared to BS ISO 8082-1:2009.
