What is ISO 8084-Performance requirements for operator protective structures about?
ISO 8084 is a standard that serves performance requirements for operator protective structures, ensuring safety, usability and performance in forestry applications.
ISO 8084 establishes a laboratory test method and performance requirements for operator protective structures (OPS) on forestry machines.
ISO 8084 applies to mobile forestry machines as defined in ISO 6814 engaged in felling, processing, forwarding and skidding.
According to ISO 8084, OPS provide reasonable protection from penetrating objects such as saplings, branches, and poking hazards in forestry work, but not from small, thrown objects such as chain teeth. Those OPS meeting the performance criteria will not provide complete operator protection, but they minimize the possibility of operator injury in normal operational situations.
Who is ISO 8084-Performance requirements for operator protective structures for?
ISO 8084 on performance requirements for operator protective structures applies to:
- Manufacturers of forestry machinery
- Dealers and importers of forestry machinery
- Testing houses and labs for forestry machinery
- Safety assessment services
- Emergency services and disaster management personnel
Why should you use ISO 8084-Performance requirements for operator protective structures?
Forestry machinery are complex mechanical and electrical machines that facilitate heavy tasks and processes related to forestry applications. OPS system of structural members arranged in such a way as to minimize the possibility of operator injury from penetrating objects. Fulfilling the safety requirements of OPS ensures safe handling and operability in forestry applications.
ISO 8084 provides users guidance on laboratory tests, apparatus, preparation, procedure and performance requirements, ensuring operational stability and prevention of injury in forestry applications.
ISO 8084 provides users guidance on construction requirements, ensuring the standardization of operator protective structures to develop safety protocols and risk reduction in forestry applications.
With obedience and compliance of ISO 8084, users can develop and assess operator protective structures, ensuring the safety and protection of operators in case of hazards.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 8084:2003+A1:2015 supersedes BS ISO 8084:2003, which is now withdrawn.
