What is ISO 8126 about?
ISO 8126 specifies visual diffuse transmission densities for second-generation silver-gelatin and diazo microforms and projection densities for second-generation vesicular microforms. It also specifies methods of measurement.
Note: It does not apply to duplicates of microforms of technical drawings and other drawing office documents.
Who is ISO 8126 for?
ISO 8126 on micrographics is applicable to:
- photographers
- micrographics equipment manufacturers and suppliers
- micrographics production personnel
- micrographics buyers and purchasers
Why should you use ISO 8126?
Microforms should be of such quality that the information contained is clearly legible, and suitable for its intended end-use. It is therefore important that documents for microfilming conform to microfilming criteria. ISO 8126 provides a method for measurement of visual diffuse transmission densities which will control micro image density to ensure that good results are obtained. The overall quality of the master directly affects duplicate quality.
What’s changed since the last update?
ISO 8126:2019 supersedes ISO 8126:2000, which is withdrawn. ISO 8126:2019 cancels and replaces ISO 8126:2000, which constitutes a minor revision i.e., all the references for low contrast tonal diazo film, not greater than 0,90” has been removed.
