Note: The term “big bag” refers to modern flexible containers in woven plastics fibre, able to contain about 1 000 l of loose coffee beans.
Who is ISO 8455-Guidelines for storage and transport of green coffee for?
ISO 8455 on the guidelines for storage and transport of green coffee is useful for:

- Occupational health and safety departments
- Quality assurance departments
Why should you use ISO 8455-Guidelines for the storage and transport of green coffee?
Green coffee before storing should be free from signs of insect infestation, rodent contamination, mould, and other contamination. Coffee beans should be sufficiently dry so as not to be unnecessarily vulnerable to subsequent moulding, but not so dry as to cause unnecessary bean breakage. The best way to store coffee beans is inside an opaque airtight container that is stored at room temperature (20 to 25C or 68 to 77F).
ISO 8455 provides you with quality characteristics for storage, putting green coffee into storage, conditions for storage, location of the warehouse, storage and handling, conditions of maritime transit, and much more.
The guidelines provided by ISO 8455 assist in improving the process of storage and transport of green coffee, maintaining the quality of green coffee, and ensuring the reduction in the risk of wastage and infestation.
With obedience and compliance to ISO 8455, you can enhance the efficacy of green coffee and manufacture a standardized high-quality product.
