Why should you use ISO 8551?
The quality of life of a person will depend on the health conditions which affect them, the consequential impairments to the body functions and structures, and the resulting activity limitations. Orthotic treatment aims to manage the impairments, reduce the activity limitations, and thus improve participation in all aspects of daily life.
ISO 8551 guideline helps you with the description of the person to be treated with an orthosis that is personal factors, health conditions to be treated with an orthosis, disorders or diseases, other health conditions, motivation and perceived needs, activity limitations, use of assistive devices, clinical objectives of treatment, and functional requirements of the orthosis. This helps in improving the clinical objectives of treatment and the functional requirements of the orthosis. It also helps in understanding clinical practices and the outcomes of treatment.
