What is ISO 8600-3 - Medical endoscopes and Endo-therapy devices about?
ISO 8600 discusses medical endoscopes and endotherapy devices. ISO 8600-3 is an international standard that provides for the determination of field and direction of view of endoscopes with optics.
ISO 8600-3 applies to endoscopes designed for use in the practice of medicine.
ISO 8600-3 is the third part of a multi-part series that specifies measurement requirements and describes two test methods for measuring the field of and direction of view of endoscopes with optics.
Under ISO 8600-3 method, A uses the distance from the distal window to calculate the field of view, and method B uses the distance from the entrance pupil. Other test methods can be used if they obtain equivalent results.
Who is ISO 8600-3 - Medical endoscopes and Endo-therapy devices for?
ISO 8600-3 on determination of field and direction of view of endoscopes with optics is useful for:
- Medical endoscopes and endo-therapy devices manufacturers
- Test centers for endo-therapy devices
- Regulatory authorities for endoscopy
Why should you use ISO 8600-3- Medical endoscopes and Endo-therapy devices?
Endoscope devices consist of flexible tubing that contains a series of lighted mirrors lenses and optics fibre These instruments transmit light around corners, twists, and bends, allowing direct visualization of body systems not easily visualized by other means.
ISO 8600-3 guideline assists you with requirements and test methods for determining the field of view and direction of view of endoscopes with optics.
Method A uses the distance from the distal window to calculate the field of view. Method A is acceptable for most traditional rigid and flexible endoscopes because the measuring distance is much longer than the distance between the distal window and the entrance pupil of the measured endoscope.
Method B uses the distance from the entrance pupil and may be used for all rigid, flexible, and capsule endoscopes. This assists you to determine the field of view and direction of view of endoscopes with optics for medical endoscopes and endo-therapy devices properly.
In addition, ISO 8600-3 assists the operator to operate the endoscopes and endo-therapy devices effectively and efficiently.
