Scope This part of ISO 8640 establishes a vocabulary of terms related to warp let-off, fabric take-up and batching parts on flat warp knitting machines: yarn carrier, yarn braking devices, yarn delivery devices, yarn guiding and tensioning devices, fabric take-up devices and fabric batching and folding devices.

NOTE 1 The figures in this part of ISO 8640 illustrate the working principle of the various aggregates. They do not represent the only, or even the most common, arrangements. In any case, to the extent technically possible, these devices are able to be combined.

NOTE 2 In addition to terms used in English and French, two of the three official ISO languages, this part of ISO 8640 gives the equivalent terms in German; these are published under the responsibility of the member body for Germany (DIN). However, only the terms and definitions given in the official languages can be considered as ISO terms and definitions.
