What is ISO 8909‑1 about?
ISO 8909 discusses forage harvesters, equipment used in harvesting.
ISO 8909‑1 is the first part of a multi-part series that specifies terms and definitions related to forage harvesters and their components.
ISO 8909‑1 identifies dimensions and other characteristics that aim at allowing comparison of operations of the machines and that improves communication among engineers and researchers, which lays down methods of measuring characteristics and performance requirements for the term defined.
Who is ISO 8909‑1 for?
ISO 8909‑1 on forage harvester harvesting equipment is applicable on:
- Manufacturing for harvesting machines
- Companies dealing with harvesting machines and forage harvesters
- Suppliers and distributors for forage harvesting machines
Why should you use ISO 8909‑1?
Manual harvesting is slow and done using simple hand tools such as sickles and knives. That’s why mechanized machines in harvesting are used to increase the output of crops harvested and save time along with enhancing the quality of the final product.
Forest harvester agricultural machine is used to harvest or gather the crop, cut the crop into short parallel lengths and deliver the chopped crop into containers or separate vehicles.
ISO 8909‑1 assist you in getting familiarized with forgage harvesters and functional components of harvesting equipment by providing you with various terms and definitions included and used for forgage harvesters and components.
ISO 8909‑1 assist you by providing a basis for comparison of operations of the machines and thus assists in enhancing the quality and efficiency of combine harvesters and functional components.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 8909‑1:2021 supersedes ISO 89091:1994, which is withdrawn. The main changes with respect to the previous edition are:
- Adaptation of designation of some terms
- Modifications of some definitions
