What is ISO 8909-3 about?
ISO 8909 discusses forage harvesters, and equipment used for harvesting.
ISO 8909-3 is the third part of a multi-series European standard that specifies test methods for evaluation of forage harvester function and performance, covering forage harvesters that cut the crop directly at full width or from spaced-apart plant rows, or which pick up pre-cut crop.
ISO 8909-3 applies to forage harvesters with driven knives for chopping and which deliver the chopped crop into a container or a separate vehicle or trailer. The forage harvesters can be tractor-mounted, trailed or self-propelled.
Who is ISO 8909-3 for?
ISO 89093 on testing methods for forage harvester is relevant to:
- Manufacturers of harvesting machines
- Mechanical engineers
- Suppliers and distributors for forage harvesting machines
- Companies dealing with harvesting machines and forage harvesters
- Testing and installing for forage harvesters
Why should you use ISO 8909-3?
Forest harvester agricultural machine is used to harvest or gather the crop, cut the crop into short parallel lengths and deliver the chopped crop into containers or separate vehicles.
ISO 8909-3 gives you a variety of tests and requirements, such as machine tests, power requirement, no-load requirement, specific energy requirement, etc., necessary to create high-quality forage harvesters and harvesting equipment.
ISO 8909-3 offers you a specific performance test, which is carried out in crops and conditions specific to determine and define the principal aspects of harvester performance.
Overall, ISO 8909-3 buyers will be able to establish a high level of quality for Forage harvesters in a particular sector, both in terms of their characteristics and performance.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 8909-3:2021 supersedes ISO 8909-3:1994, which is withdrawn and includes:
- updates to normative references
- modification of the specifications for the test report
