What is ISO 916 about?
ISO 916 provides methods and testing procedures to test refrigeration systems.
ISO 916 applies to the performance testing of compressor driven refrigerating systems that operate according to the principle of vapour compression and consist of the circuit parts for compression, condensation, and evaporation as well as the connecting pipes and any necessary associated ancillaries required for a complete refrigeration circuit.
ISO 916 does not apply to the testing of other refrigeration systems such as absorption or steam jet refrigerating systems.
ISO 916 includes testing outside laboratories or where specific laboratory testing standards for systems do not exist and which is performed according to agreed operating conditions.
Note: Testing of the suitability of a refrigerating system for a specific use, such as household refrigerators, refrigerated commercial and display cabinets, air conditioners, is not covered by ISO 916.
Who is ISO 916 for?
ISO 916 on Reciprocating internal combustion engines is useful for:
- Mechanical engineers
- Chemical engineers
- Manufacturers of Refrigeration appliances such as air conditioners
- Innovators and Researchers
Why should you use ISO 916?
Refrigeration systems are an essential process in industry and home applications as they perform cooling or maintain room temperature at a desired value.
ISO 916 specifies methods for testing refrigeration systems and provides requirements for overall ratings, testing net useful capacity tolerances and the material properties required for refrigeration.
ISO 916 benefits the user with conventional measurement methods that provide performance warranties that cover essential characteristics such as energy efficiency and refrigeration operation.
Overall, ISO 916 provides methods for testing refrigeration systems that allow them to make more efficient systems. This saves a lot of energy and heat, thus creating a sustainable and cost-effective solution.
