What is ISO 9211-5 about?
ISO 9211-5 is the fifth part of the multi-series that is applicable to the Optics and photonics.
ISO 9211-5 discusses the properties of anti-reflecting metal coatings and the effects they have on the optical systems.
ISO 9211-5 specifies minimum requirements for the optical effects and the mechanical, chemical, and environmental properties of anti-reflecting coatings.
Note: ISO 9211-5 applies to anti-reflecting coatings for optical applications.
Who is  ISO 9211-5 for?
ISO 9211-5 on anti-reflecting coatings applies to:
- Opticians
- Photonic researchers
- Optical equipment manufacturers and suppliers
- Manufacturers of optical instruments
- People working in optical industries
Why should you use  ISO 9211-5?
ISO 9211-5 applies to anti-reflecting metal coatings based on aluminum or silver for optical applications.
Anti-reflecting coatings (ARC) virtually eliminate all reflections from the front and back surfaces of your lenses which improves the vision of the user.
ISO 9211-5 specifies requirements for the manufacturer of thin films to choose for the materials and production method which ensures the right designing of the optic lenses.
By adopting ISO 9211-5 the anti-reflecting metal coatings can be used for color separation/combination in imaging, scientific, and even decorative applications. The manufacturer and the user shall agree on the solvents and chemicals for the testing of chemical durability as specified in ISO 9211-5.
