What is ISO 9211-8 about?
ISO 9211-8 specifies minimum requirements for the optical functions and especially for the laser power handling capability as well as for the resistance against mechanical, chemical, and climatic stress of optical coatings.
The scope of ISO 9211-8 covers laser components with surface treatments and substrates identified in accordance with the definitions given in ISO 9211‑1.
Note: applies to optical coatings that are used in laser optics.
Who is ISO 9211-8 for?
ISO 9211-8 on optical coatings applies to:
- Opticians
- Manufacturers of optical appliances
- Manufacturers of laser applications
- People working in the Optic and laser industries
Why should you use  ISO 15871?
Lasers usually have a very narrow wavelength range; optical coatings can help to optimize the component for the specific design wavelength for the application.
ISO 15871 specifies minimum requirements for adhesion, cleanliness, chemical durability, environmental durability and surface imperfections while manufacturing of the laser optics to ensure the superior performance.
