What is ISO 945-4- Microstructure of cast irons about?
ISO 945-4 is a safety standard on the microstructure of cast irons.
ISO 945-4 specifies a test method for evaluating nodularity in spheroidal graphite cast irons by comparative visual analysis and image analysis techniques.
ISO 945-4 provides figures for different levels of nodularity and graphite particle count of spheroidal graphite cast irons for visual analysis.
Who is ISO 945-4- Microstructure of cast irons for?
ISO 945-4 on the test method for evaluating nodularity in spheroidal is relevant to:
- Testing authorities
- Metallurgical engineers
- Chemical engineers
- Corrosion engineers
- Manufacturers of cast iron products
- Metalworkers' engineers
Why should you use ISO 945-4- Microstructure of cast irons?
The shape of the graphite particles is an important characteristic of spheroidal graphite cast irons.
ISO 945-4 characterizes the graphite particles observed, information is generally necessary on the nodularity, the size, and the number of the graphite particles. Nodularity is designated by a percentage, in increments of five percentage points. Graphite particle size is designated by numbers from 3 to 8.
Overall, ISO 945-4 is useful as it assists the user with the test method for evaluating nodularity in spheroidal.
