What is ISO 9932 about?
ISO 9932 is a technical standard that serves technical specifications for paper and board. It details dynamic sweep and static gas methods for determining water vapour transmission rate of sheet materials that enhance the resistance of moisture transmission in building and packaging applications.
ISO 9932 describes general test methods for determining the water vapour transmission rate of sheet materials by means of a dynamic gas method or a static gas method. Depending on the method and specific apparatus employed, materials up to 38 mm thick and with water vapour transmission rates in the range from 0.05 g/(m2.d) to 65 g/(m2.d) can be tested.
ISO 9932 briefly describes the basis of the function of the instrumental techniques. It also gives advice on calibration for determining the water vapour transmission rate of sheet materials.
Who is ISO 9932 for?
ISO 9932 on determining water vapour transmission rate of sheet materials is applicable to:
- Building and packaging industry
- Paper mills and manufacturers
- Distributors, dealers and importers of paper and board
- Paper and pulp industries
Why should you use ISO 9932?
The rate of water vapour penetration through a barrier is an important property for sheet materials that have applications in building and packaging. Low water vapour penetration ensures the safety and quality assurance of the products.
ISO 9932 methods allow you to assess the material being tested, produce results in a matter of hours and are suitable for materials with transmission rates considerably less than 1 g/(m2.d) which takes less time than other methods which span in days.
ISO 9932 can also be applied to specific apparatus as they are also suitable for materials up to 38 mm thick which helps you to determine water vapour transmission rate for a variety of materials.
Guidance in ISO 9932 provides you with two methods namely, dynamic sweep gas method and static gas method which provide quick and accurate results to determine the water vapour transmission rate of sheet materials.
