What is ISO/IEC 21228 – Coexistence mechanism for broadband about ?
ISO/IEC 21228 specifies the coexistence mechanism for various broadband powerline communication systems. By using the coexistence mechanism, possible harmful interference between different standard-based high-speed powerline communication systems can be avoided.
ISO/IEC 21228 outlines important terms and definitions, abbreviations and coexistence protocol.
Who is ISO/IEC 21228 – Coexistence mechanism for broadband for ?
ISO/IEC 21228 on Information Technology is relevant to:
- Software Engineers
- Broadband service providers
- Any entity responsible for testing of broadband powerline communication systems
Why should you use ISO/IEC 21228 – Coexistence mechanism for broadband ?
A power line communication (PLC) system utilizes existing electrical power lines as a channel of communication. PLCs can provide either reliable broadband connectivity or high-speed narrow-band connectivity.
ISO/IEC 21228 specifies clauses that specifies the coexistence protocol, which is a part of the coexistence mechanism and allows sharing resources between two or more non-interoperable systems, up to four systems on the same powerline at the same time.
Overall, ISO/IEC 21228 is beneficial to the service providers as it provides coexistence mechanics for various broadband systems, making the service more reliable and decreasing latency, resulting in a better user experience.
