BSI Flex 1889 v2.0 creates a natural language for the description of scenarios used in scenario-based testing of automated driving systems (ADS). It aims to influence future connected and automated mobility (CAM) standardization concerning highly and fully automated vehicles and support the deployment of L3+ vehicles on public roads.
Who is BSI Flex 1889 v2.0 for?
The specification is intended to be used by organizations providing test/audit services of the systems and processes related to the assurance of an ADS and automated vehicle.
It will be useful to manufacturers, developers of Level 3 and higher ADS, suppliers of components and subcomponents, simulators and anyone involved in scenario-based testing.
Users of this document may also include:
- Regulators
- Development engineers
- Test engineers
- Scenario editors
- Scenario database maintainers
- Requirement engineers
What does BSI Flex 1889 v2.0 cover?
BSI Flex 1889 v2.0 sets out requirements for a structured natural language format for test scenario definition of an ADS Level 3 and higher. The standard includes important information on Natural Language Abstract Scenario Description Language (NL SDL), scenario composition and language concepts, examples and use cases.
Why should you use BSI Flex 1889 v2.0?
The standard will enable regulators, type-approval authorities, safety engineers (non-coders) to use a common language for defining test scenarios, enabling more efficient exchange between organizations.
It will help manufacturers and developers of AVs (and sub-components used) to assemble sets of evidence that will improve confidence in the safety of the resulting product, such as component specifications, effective use of redundant control architectures and data obtained from appropriate test and verification activities.
The standard can help to:
- Accelerate innovation
- Develop your expertise
- Improve efficiency and safety
- Increase trust
