What is BSI Flex 350 v2.0:2024 - Alternative binder systems for lower carbon concrete about?
If our planet is to stay within 1.5C to 2C of warming, annual carbon emissions from the cement industry will need to reduce.
To that end, BSI Flex 350 v2.0:2024 deals with how to assess alternative binder systems (ABS) that can lower carbon emissions from concrete while maintaining performance.
Who is BSI Flex 350 v2.0:2024 for?
- construction engineers/designers
- specifiers
- contractors
- producers of alternative binder
- send users of alternative binders
What does BSI Flex 350 v2.0:2024 - Alternative binder systems for lower carbon concrete cover?
This is a performance-based code of practice, providing recommendations to work towards the Net Zero 2050 target when incorporating alternative binder systems (ABS). It is agnostic to binder technologies.
BSI Flex 350 v2.0:2024-covers background and properties of typical ABS with recommendations on testing and monitoring to demonstrate compliance with the recommendations on performance for different applications.
Its primary purpose is to assist engineers using low carbon technologies, including but not limited to geopolymer or alkali-activated materials (AAM). It does not cover the cement types in BS EN 197, BS EN 15743 or BS EN 14647.
