What is ISO/TS 17728-Sampling techniques for microbiological analysis of food and feed samples about?
ISO/TS 17728 is a technical specification on microbiology of the food chain that discusses the sampling techniques for microbiological analysis of food and feed samples to ensure food is safe and does not contain harmful contaminants.
ISO/TS 17728 applies to the collection of samples before submission to the laboratory for microbiological examination.
ISO/TS 17728 provides general instructions and specific requirements for obtaining samples and transporting them to the laboratory.
ISO/TS 17728 applies to all food and feed products, including blocks of frozen products, carcasses (excluding surface sampling of carcasses), meat, and bulk products.
Note1: Sampling plans are not included in the scope ISO/TS 17728
Note2: The following sample types are outside the scope of ISO/TS 17728:
- Milk and dairy products
- Surface sampling of carcasses
- Samples from environmental surfaces
- Samples from the primary production stage
Who is ISO/TS 17728-Sampling techniques for microbiological analysis of food and feed samples for?
ISO/TS 17728 on the sampling techniques for microbiological analysis of food and feed samples is useful for:
- Food scientists
- Food technologists
- Food laboratories
- Food health and safety departments
- Microbiologists
Why should you use ISO/TS 17728-Sampling techniques for microbiological analysis of food and feed samples?
A sampling technique is a name or other identification of the specific process by which the entities of the sample have been selected.
ISO/TS 17728 provides you with principles and general requirements, sampling plan, general arrangements, sampling techniques, sampling techniques general protocol, packaging and labelling of samples, apparatus, equipment, and much more.
The sampling techniques provided by ISO/TS 17728 assist in microbiological analysis of food and feed samples to yield the required information so that a decision can be made regarding the acceptance of the lot and ensuring improvement in quality control of food and feed.
With obedience and compliance to ISO/TS 17728, you can enhance the efficacy of the food and feed and manufacture a standardized high-quality product that is safe for consumption.
