What is ISO/TS 22115 about?
ISO/TS 22115 specifies a method for the semi-quantitative analysis of oils, fats, and oil/fat-related samples (deodistillates).
ISO/TS 22115 is applicable to the screening of oils, fats, and oil/fat-related samples to obtain main (e.g. Triglycerides) and minor (e.g. sterols, sterol esters, tocopherols, wax esters, fatty alcohols, glycerol) component information in one single analysis. For a truly quantitative analysis of pre-identified compound classes, specific methods are more appropriate.
ISO/TS 22115 specifies these methods can also be used as a useful qualitative screening tool for the relative comparison of sample compositions.
Who is ISO/TS 22115 for?
ISO/TS 22115 on fingerprint test method for animal and vegetable fats and oils is relevant to:
- Manufacturers of dietary food and supplements
- Medical and pharma companies
- Food technologists
- Food, health and safety-related regulatory bodies
- Certification bodies
- Food testing laboratories
Why should you use ISO/TS 22115?
Gas chromatography is an analytical technique used to separate the chemical components of a sample mixture and then detect them to determine their presence or absence and/or how much is present. In this regard, ISO/TS 22115 walks you through the fingerprint method for the separation of lipid classes from animal and vegetable oils and fats.
ISO/TS 22115 can be particularly beneficial for your product development initiatives and from the perspective of manufacturing products that align with standardized safety and health regulations.
