What is PD CEN/TS 12007‑6 about?
PD CEN/TS 12007‑6 is the sixth part of the multi-series standard PD CEN/TS 12007. PD CEN/TS 12007‑6 describes the specific functional requirements for unplasticized polyamide (PA-U) pipelines in addition to the general functional requirements of EN 12007-1 for:
- A maximum operating pressure (MOP) up to and including 16 bar
- An operating temperature between −20 °C and +40 °C
PD CEN/TS 12007‑6 covers one type of pipe:
- PA pipes single layer solid wall
NOTE: PD CEN/TS 12007‑6 specifies common basic principles for gas infrastructure and is intended to be applied in association with these national standards and/or codes of practice setting out the above-mentioned basic principles.
Who is PD CEN/TS 12007‑6 for?
PD CEN/TS 12007‑6 on recommendations for PA-U is relevant to:
- PA-U manufacturers
- Manufacturers and suppliers of gas pipeline parts and materials
- Petrochemical industry
Why should you use PD CEN/TS 12007‑6?
The gas industry has for long been benefitting from its relation with high-quality plastic piping materials. PA-U is one such component that complements the high-pressure nature of gas distribution applications.
PD CEN/TS 12007‑6 describes the specific functional requirements and guidance on assembly techniques, construction, jointing, laying and quality control, amongst other parameters.
With PD CEN/TS 12007‑6, you can be assured of gas pipelines that offer high quality, resistance from corrosion, heat and pressure and thereby avoid product failures.
As a result, PA-U pipelines complying with a standardised process established by PD CEN/TS 12007‑6 can be part of your quality programme to ensure the safety and integrity of gas systems over their design life in service.
