What is CEN/TS 15531‑4 - Facility monitoring of service interfaces about?
CEN/TS 15531 is a technical specification that discusses the service interface for real-time information relating to public transport operations. CEN/TS 15531‑4 is the fourth part of a multi-part series that specifies an additional SIRI functional service to exchange information about changes to the availability of facilities, between monitoring systems and servers containing real-time public transport vehicle or journey time data.
CEN/TS 15531‑4 include the control centres of transport operators and information systems that utilize real-time vehicle information, for example, to deliver services such as travel information.
CEN/TS 15531‑4 describes the SIRI Facility Monitoring service, one of a modular set of services for the exchange of Real-time information.
Who is CEN/TS 15531‑4 - Facility monitoring of service interface?
CEN/TS 15531‑4 on facility monitoring of service interface is useful for:
- Municipality authorities
- Road vehicle manufacturers
- Public transport operators and service providers
Why should you use CEN/TS 15531‑4 - Facility monitoring of service interface?
Public transport services rely increasingly on information systems to ensure reliable, efficient operation and widely accessible, accurate passenger information. These systems are used for a range of specific purposes: setting schedules and timetables; managing vehicle fleets; issuing tickets and receipts; providing real-time information on service running, and so on.
CEN/TS 15531‑4 facilitate interoperability between information processing systems of the transport operators by providing common architectures for message exchange, a modular set of compatible information services for real-time vehicle information and a consistent approach to data management.
CEN/TS 15531‑4 also assists you in properly managing vehicles by allowing the precise tracking of both local and roaming vehicles and providing you with the data that can be used to improve performance, such as the measurement of schedule adherence.
