What is PD CEN/TS 17200 - Construction products about?
PD CEN/TS 17200 is a European standard that discusses the assessment of the release of dangerous substances by analyzing the inorganic substances in digests and eluates for construction products.
PD CEN/TS 17200 specifies the method for the determination of major, minor and trace elements in aqua regia and nitric acid digests and eluates of construction products by Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS).
The method in PD CEN/TS 17200 applies to construction products and is validated for the product types listed in Annex B.
NOTE 1: Construction products include e.g. mineral-based products (S); bituminous products (B); metals (M); wood-based products (W); plastics and rubbers (P); sealants and adhesives (A); paints and coatings (C), see also CEN/TR 16045.
NOTE 2: The limit of detection of most elements will be affected by their natural abundance, ionization behaviour, on abundance of isotope(s) free from isobaric interferences and by contamination (e.g. handling and airborne). Handling contaminations are in many cases more important than airborne ones.
Who is PD CEN/TS 17200 - Construction products for?
PD CEN/TS 17200 on Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) applies to:
- Manufacturing Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry
- Retailers and suppliers of Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry
- Companies dealing with construction products
Why should you use PD CEN/TS 17200 - Construction products?
Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) is an elemental analysis technology capable of detecting most of the periodic table of elements at milligram to nanogram levels per litre.
PD CEN/TS 17200 provides you various types of samples and testing for Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry such as digest, test analytical sample, test analytical portion, method detection limit and instrument detection limit which help in analyzing inorganic substances by Inductively Coupled Plasma - Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS).
As a user of PD CEN/TS 17200, you can provide the performance of this analytical method in terms of repeatability and reproducibility which will be verified in connection with the validation of digestion methods for construction products using aqua regia.
What’s changed since the last update?
PD CEN/TS 17200:2018 supersedes CEN/TS 17200:2018, which is withdrawn. It includes:
- The corrigendum 1 corrects a value in 6.3.
