What is PD CEN/TS 17262 - Biometric Automated Border Control about?
International travel records of travellers can have a direct affect on national security. PD CEN/TS 17262 helps you to do just that. CEN/TS 17262 provides requirements and recommendations for the implementation of automated border control systems in Europe with presentation attack detection capability.
PD CEN/TS 17262 covers the evaluation of countermeasures from the Biometrics perspective as well as privacy, data protection and usability aspects. The biometric reference data can be stored in an electronic machine-readable travel documents or in a database of registered travellers.
PD CEN/TS 17262 covers biometric impostor attacks and biometric concealer attacks in a watchlist scenario. PD CEN/TS 17262 addresses presentation attack detection for facial and fingerprint biometrics only.
Note: Enrolment, issuance and verification applications of electronic machine readable travel documents other than border control does not cover by PD CEN/TS 17262.
Who is PD CEN/TS 17262 - Biometric Automated Border Control for?
PD CEN/TS 17262 on Biometric Automated Border Control is useful for:
- Software engineers / IT firms
- Government authorities
- Airport authorities
- Firms that provide biometric equipment and services
- Biometric verification authorities
- Biometric technology operators
- Entities that use authentication for their business
Why should you use PD CEN/TS 17262 - Biometric Automated Border Control?
Automated border control systems are potentially vulnerable to biometric presentation attacks. A biometric presentation attack (or spoofing) is the presentation of artefacts or human characteristics to the biometric capture subsystem in a fashion that may interfere with the system policy. Techniques for the automated detection of presentation attacks are called presentation attack detection mechanisms.
PD CEN/TS 17262 provides you with best practice recommendations regarding the presentation attack detection capabilities of European automated border control systems.
PD CEN/TS 17262 gives recommendations on how an evaluator should conduct a presentation attack detection evaluation to assess the resilience of an automated border control system presentation attack detection mechanisms to attacks. PD CEN/TS 17262 contributes towards making nations more secure by maintaining and verifying records of passangers who cross borders.
