What is PD CLC/TR 50718 about?
PD CLC/TR 50718 guide users of the EN 45545 series, particularly EN 45545-2:2013+A1:2015 and EN 45545-5:2013+A1:2015, in the application of these standards in designing and assessing Ni-Cd batteries onboard trains for their fire protection measures.
NOTE: However, EN 45545 being generic requirements and not specifically referring to Ni-Cd batteries, this guide helps the application for those batteries.
NOTE: PD CLC/TR 50718 excludes any new requirements, considering only the requirements stated by the above-listed standards.
Who is PD CLC/TR 50718 for?
PD CLC/TR 50718 on batteries onboard train is relevant to:
- Railway engineers
- Manufacturers of railway rolling stock
- Manufacturers of batteries
Why should you use PD CLC/TR 50718?
Ni-Cd batteries on board rolling stock are used for locomotive starting and lighting in engines and coaches. PD CLC/TR 50718 gives guidelines regarding the designing and assessment of batteries onboard trains.
PD CLC/TR 50718 provides information on how to manage spare parts at the different levels of component and sub-systems in terms of preventive or corrective maintenance, up-gradation, and renewal.
Overall, these guidelines help you manufacture onboard rolling stock batteries to ensure the reliability and performance of trains, saving a large amount of energy.
