What is PD CLC/TS 50459‑3 about?
PD CLC/TS 50459‑3 is part three of the multi-series standard that describes from an ergonomic point of view how non ETCS information is arranged and displayed on the CCD. More specifically, PD CLC/TS 50459‑3 covers information that is not within the scope of ERA document ERA_ERTMS_015560.
PD CLC/TS 50459‑3 describes two possible technologies for implementing the ETCS DMI namely touch screen and soft key.
Note- National systems not integrated within ETCS DMI are not within the scope of PD CLC/TS 50459‑3. Redundancy concepts are not within the scope of PD CLC/TS 50459‑3.
Who is PD CLC/TS 50459‑3 for?
PD CLC/TS 50459‑3 on ergonomic arrangements of non ETCS information is useful for:
- European rail traffic management system
- Railways manufacturers
- Railways regulatory authorities
- Railway drivers
Why should you use PD CLC/TS 50459‑3?
PD CLC/TS 50459‑3 gives a clear and consistent definition of the non ETCS driver machine interface that helps the driver to better understand the tasks he has to perform. This increases the speed and the accuracy of interactions between the driver and the non ETCS on-board equipment (NTC and/or other on-board systems), hence reducing the probability of human errors.
PD CLC/TS 50459‑3 harmonizes the presentation of displayed information and the driver’s interactions with the equipment, contributes to a unified operation of the trains regardless of which suppliers’ products they are fitted with.
PD CLC/TS 50459‑3 reduces further the potential for human errors, reduces the driver training requirement and facilitates cross-acceptance of equipment.
What’s changed since the last update?
PD CLC/TS 50459‑3:2021 supersedes CLC/TS 50459-3:2016.
PD CLC/TS 50459‑3:2021 includes the following significant technical changes with respect to CLC/TS 50459-3:2016:
- Update general principles for the presentation of non ETCS information correlated with ERA document ERA_ERTMS_015560
- Update ergonomic arrangements with EN 16186 series
