What is PD IEC PAS 63343 about?
PD IEC PAS 63343 discusses standards for maritime navigation and radiocommunication equipment and systems. PD IEC PAS 63343 specifies technical requirements, methods of test, and required test results for equipment implementing application specific message (ASM) part of the very high frequency (VHF) Data exchange system (VDES).
PD IEC PAS 63343 is intended to be the first step of the development of the standard(s) describing equipment that implements functions of VDES in any combination.
Requirements set in PD IEC PAS 63343 provide means to mitigate adverse interference to automatic identification system (AIS).
Who is PD IEC PAS 63343 for?
PD IEC PAS 63343 on maritime navigation and radiocommunication equipment is applicable for:
- Ship and marine industries
- Maritime manufacturers
- Maritime navigation and radiocommunication equipment and systems
- Design engineers for marine equipment
Why should you use PD IEC PAS 63343?
ASM mobile station is intended to be used onboard any marine vessel that may operate globally or regionally anywhere in the world. The function of ASM mobile station described in PD IEC PAS 63343 is transmit through ASM VHF data link information which is input to ASM mobile station by other onboard equipment through presentation interface (PI) and output all information received from ASM VDL applicable to own station, through PI so that this information is available to other onboard equipment. PD IEC PAS 63343 provides technical requirements for equipment implementing ASM part of the VHF Data exchange system (VDES).
The guidelines provided in PD IEC PAS 63343 helps you to consider the technical characteristics of shipborne AIS equipment.
PD IEC PAS 63343 provides you with the minimum operational and performance requirements, methods of testing, and required test results for the ASM Mobile station.
By adopting PD IEC PAS 63343, manufacturers can effectively build maritime navigation and radiocommunication equipment systems and have the quality assurance to ensure that the system is built according to the requirements and build trust in their use throughout the ship and marine supply chain.
