What is PD IEC TS 62686‑1 about?
PD IEC TS 62686‑1 is an international standard for avionics that specifies the technical specification of integrated circuits and discrete semiconductors along with the environmental health and safety requirements used for conducting the test. This specification is useful in verifying stability and helps in producing better quality semiconductors by using process management for avionics.
PD IEC TS 62686‑1 is the first part of process management avionics in multi-series.
PD IEC TS 62686‑1 is a Technical Specification, that defines the minimum requirements for general purpose "off the shelf" COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) integrated circuits and discrete semiconductors for ADHP (aerospace, defence and high performance) applications.
ADHP OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) might need to consider redesigning their products or conducting further testing to verify suitability in ADHP applications using their IEC 62239-1 ECMP procedure. Alternatively, a component in accordance with IEC TS 62564-1 can be more suitable.
Note 1: PD IEC TS 62686‑1 applies to all components that can be operated in ADHP applications within the manufacturers’ publicly available datasheet limits in conjunction with IEC 62239-1. It can be used by other high performance and high-reliability industries, at their discretion.
Note 2: Component qualification and outgoing quality discussed herein do not address component atmospheric radiations SEE effects per IEC 62396-1.
Who is PD IEC TS 62686‑1 for?
PD IEC TS 62686‑1 on Process management for avionics is useful for:
- Defence
- Aerospace
- Space stations
Why should you use PD IEC TS 62686‑1?
Avionics are electronic systems that help in communication, navigation, the display and management of multiple systems, and the hundreds of systems that are fitted to aircraft to perform individual functions.
PD IEC TS 62686‑1 provides general requirements about the quality management system and specifies the technical requirement of semiconductors. The process change notification helps in changing the devices by using OCM. Electrical characteristics mentioned in PD IEC TS 62686‑1 is useful in assessing the electrical parameters which help in determining the operating conditions.
PD IEC TS 62686‑1 specifies the dimensions for integrated circuits or discrete semiconductors which result in designing the semiconductors. With the help of PD IEC TS 62686‑1, you can ensure environmental health and safety precautions while conducting tests. By conducting a Quality assessment test, you can produce better-quality semiconductors with the help of process management avionics.
What’s changed since the last update?
PD IEC TS 62686‑1:2020 supersedes PD IEC/TS 62686‑1:2015. PD IEC TS 62686‑1:2020 includes some technical changes with respect to PD IEC/TS 62686‑1:2015. These include:
- Update related to obsolescence of STACK Specification S/0001 revision 14 notice 3
- Addition of alternative automotive methods of compliance and revision of Annex B initially
- Related to cross-reference to STACK Specification S/0001
- Addition of Annex C to include a requirement matrix for IEC TS 62686-1 verification
