What is PD IEC TS 62764‑1- Assessment of human exposure to low-frequency magnetic fields about?
PD IEC TS 62764‑ 1 is the first part of the PD IEC TS 62764 series of standards that applies to the assessment of human exposure to low-frequency magnetic fields generated by automotive vehicles.
For plug-in vehicles, this includes the electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) and associated cables provided by the car manufacturer. The scope of PD IEC TS 62764‑ 1 establishes the measurement procedure for the evaluation of magnetic field levels in the automotive environment, for passenger cars and commercial vehicles of categories M1 and N1 as defined in ECE/TRANS/WP.29/78/Rev.3 [1]1, with respect to human exposure.
PD IEC TS 62764‑ 1 provides standardized operating conditions and defines recommended measurements to assess compliance to the applicable exposure requirements. PD IEC TS 62764‑ 1 covers the frequency range 1 Hz to 400 kHz and is applicable to any type of engine and/or internal energy source.
NOTE 1: It is not the scope of PD IEC TS 62764‑ 1 to define procedures for wireless power transfer (WPT).
NOTE 2: Abnormal operation of the vehicle or equipment under test is not taken into consideration.
Who is PD IEC TS 62764‑1- Assessment of human exposure to low-frequency magnetic fields for?
PD IEC TS 62764‑1 on low-frequency magnetic fields is relevant to:
- Electrical engineers and electricians
- Manufacturers of electrical devices
- Manufacturers of cars
- Product designers
Why should you use PD IEC TS 62764‑1- Low frequency magnetic fields?
Exposure to low-frequency fields that are strong enough can lead to dizziness, seeing light flashes, and feeling tingling or pain through stimulation of nerves.
PD IEC TS 62764‑1 specifies a methodology for determining the exposure to multiple magnetic field sources for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles including standardized operating conditions and measurement volumes and surfaces.
Overall, PD IEC TS 62764‑1 provides guidance on the requirement regarding the low-frequency magnetic fields that will help you to manufacture vehicle that will ensure the safety of the users.
