What is PD IEC/TS 63064 - Graphical symbols for diagrams about?
PD IEC/TS 63064 gives guidance and basic principles on how to design graphical symbols for diagrams for standardization and inclusion in IEC 60617.
Note: PD IEC/TS 63064 does not specify how to apply such graphical symbols in the diagrams.
Who is PD IEC/TS 63064 - Graphical symbols for diagrams for?
PD IEC/TS 63064 on guidance on design for standardization in IEC 60617 is useful for:
- Designers of graphical symbols
- Information technology and electronics engineering industry
- Entities involved in telecommunications technical drawings
- Entities involved with technical product documentation
Why should you use PD IEC/TS 63064 - Graphical symbols for diagrams?
A graphical symbol is a visually detectable figure with a specific meaning that is used to transfer information regardless of language. They are widely used across electrical engineering field as an effective way of showing pictorially the electrical connections, components and operation of a particular electrical circuit or system.
The visual impression of graphical symbols for diagrams are:
- Simple, in order to provide good perceptibility and reproducibility
- Easily associated information of the concept, i.e. either self-evident or easy to learn and to remember
PD IEC/TS 63064 can ensure graphical symbols for diagrams with the same visual impression representing different information is avoided.
PD IEC/TS 63064 can assist you in qualifying symbols for general purposes in order to broaden the applicability as much as feasible. Overall, compliance with standardized graphical symbols can offer seamless information exchange between entities across an industry or domain, to avoid any misunderstanding and ambiguity.
