What is ISO/TS 20791-2 about ?
ISO/TS 20791 discusses photographic reflection prints.
ISO/TS 20791-2 is the second part of a multi-part series that specifies standard procedures for evaluation of colour variation in the printing of photographic reflection colour prints of the size of available picture area ranging from 35 cm2 (5 cm × 7 cm) to 5400 cm2 (60 cm × 90 cm).
ISO/TS 20791-2 evaluates colour variation in printing within a consecutive or several print jobs using procedures like test targets for small and between multiple photographic images in:
- Test targets for small and large photographic prints
- Measurement of colours
- Calculation and evaluation of colour variation
- Sampling procedures and reporting.
Note: ISO/TS 207912 applies to any photographic printing technologies including inkjet and thermal dye transfer, electrophotography and silver halide (chromogenic) technologies.
Who is ISO/TS 207912 for ?
ISO/TS 207912 on evaluation of colour variation in printing is relevant to:
- Photographers
- Printing press
Why should you use ISO/TS 207912 ?
An appropriate and stable printing system is required for high-quality printing as density and colour of prints may fluctuate during the repeated continuous printing or vary between two printings done at different times or days, even if the same input data and printer settings are used. To select an appropriate printing system evaluation of colour variation in printing is crucial.
Standard procedures mentioned under ISO/TS 207912 assist in evaluating colour variation in photographic prints and improving the quality of the prints.
ISO/TS 207912 guides in selecting an appropriate printing system for high-quality printing according to various needs.
Efficient evaluation of colour variation in the printing of reflection prints in photography can enhance the quality of the output.
