What is ISO/TS 23105 about?
ISO/TS 23105 discusses standards for Biotechnology biobanking and specifies requirements for the collection, preparation, preservation, transportation, storage, distribution, and disposal of plant biological materials and associated data.
ISO/TS 23105 is applicable only to biological material that can be used for further processing of biomolecules, e.g., nucleic acids, proteins, and metabolites.
ISO/TS 23105 is applicable to all organizations performing plant biobanking for research and development.
Biological collections encompass numerous biological material types, including frozen plant tissues, fluid-preserved plant tissues or associated extracts, or some or all of them. These collections often require specialized experts to curate and assemble the collection.
Who is ISO/TS 23105 for?
ISO/TS 23105 on biotechnology biobanking is useful for-
- Manufacturers of plant biological material
- Plant biological material developers
- Research facilities
Why should you use ISO/TS 23105?
Biobanking of plant biological materials is fundamental for botanical and agroecosystem research, sustainable crop development, and production, ensuring genetic diversity and conservation. Biobank biological material collection and accession management are strategic to optimizing plant genetic resources.
ISO/TS 23105 provides the specific requirements, guidelines, and effective practices for biobanking plant biological materials based on the current and available technological and scientific knowledge. Appropriate biological material processing and storage conditions to maintain high-quality collections and maximize the potential of positive outcomes. ISO/TS 23105 provides guidance on how to collect, process, store, track and distribute plant biological materials.
