What is ISO/TS 6521-2 about?
ISO/TS 6521-2 specifies the minimum requirements for mineral or synthetic-based lubricants, as delivered, and intended for use in flooded rotary air compressors (vane and screw).
These lubricants are refined mineral oils, part synthetic or synthetic oils with suitable oxidation and corrosion inhibitors, in combination with anti-wear and/or extreme-pressure additives; they can also contain some additional detergent additives.
Who is ISO/TS 6521-2 for?
ISO/TS 6521-2 on the specifications of categories DAG, DAH, and DAJ is beneficial for:
- Manufacturers and suppliers of mineral or synthetic-based lubricants
- Manufacturers of flooded rotary air compressors
- Mechanical engineers
Why should you use ISO/TS 6521-2?
Lubricants for compressors are used in various compressor designs. The lubricants for these applications can vary in composition; from straight mineral oils to more complex blends, based on mineral oils, synthetic oils (e.g., poly α-olefins, esters, poly-glycols), with appropriate antioxidants, rust and corrosion inhibitors, extreme-pressure and anti-wear additives, possibly associated with detergent and dispersing agents. ISO/TS 6521-2 assists you with the necessary requirements.
In flooded rotary air compressors, the oil is submitted to high oxidative stresses. Similarly, separation of oil from the air at the exit of the compressor using coalescing filters is crucial. For these reasons, ISO/TS 6521-2 is extremely beneficial as it helps in limiting oil degradation and maintain oil oxidation stability.
As a buyer of ISO/TS 6521-2, you will be able to improve separating efficiency and therefore limit oil consumption. Consequently, flooded rotary air compressors can be kept in top working conditions while ensuring applications are energy cost-effective and reliable. Complying with specifications for DAH, DAG and DAJ, will also ensure the overall compressor life cycle costs.
