What is ISO 81060-5 about ?
ISO 81060-5 is a multi-part series of international standards which discusses non-invasive sphygmomanometers.
ISO 81060-5 specifies requirements for the repeatability and reproductivity of non-invasive blood pressure (NIBP) simulators intended to test automated sphygmomanometers utilizing the oscillometric non-continuous method only.
ISO 81060-5 is applicable to NIBP simulators testing automated sphygmomanometers for adults, children and neonates at the upper arm, thigh etc. and automated sphygmomanometers measuring at the wrist.
Note 1: ISO 81060-5 is not intended to relate the signals, generated by the NIBP simulator, to the oscillometric signal recorded in a cuff attached to a human.
Note 2: ISO 81060-5 is not intended to test the interaction between the NIBP simulator and the tested automated sphygmomanometer.
Note 3: ISO 81060-5 does not check whether or not the NIBP simulator is able to test the accuracy of the absolute blood pressure value of oscillometric automated sphygmomanometers.
Who is ISO 81060-5 for ?
ISO 81060-5 on Non-invasive blood pressure of non-invasive sphygmomanometer is applicable in:
- Test centers for sphygmomanometers/ medical devices
- Manufactures of sphygmomanometers
- Retailers and suppliers of sphygmomanometers
Why should you use ISO 81060-5 ?
Non-invasive blood pressure simulator (NIBP) is a device that generates artificial blood pressure oscillation in the pneumatic system of automated sphygmomanometers, which is used to test automated sphygmomanometers.
ISO 81060-5 provides you the technical specification as the repeatability and reproducibility of NIBP simulators is intended to test automated sphygmomanometers to ensure, as they often check the stability of an automated sphygmomanometers used over time, after the repair or to compare the same type of automated sphygmomanometers.
As a user of ISO 81060-5, you are able to acquire a long-term stability of the non-invasive simulators as it is tested repeated periodically over the time, which helps in securing and manufacturing the automated non-invasive sphygmomanometers in a secure way.
