What is BS EN 12560-7 - Covered metal jacketed gaskets about?
BS EN 12560 is a series that focuses on flanges and their joints. Flanges and their joints are connections of pipes, where the connecting pieces have flanges by which the parts are bolted together.
BS EN 12560-7 specifies the construction, dimensions and marking of covered metal jacketed gaskets for use with flanges complying with BS EN 1759-1 for Class 150, Class 300, Class 600, Class 900. Class 1 500 for sizes up to and including NPS 24, and for Class designation 2 500 up to and including NPS 12.
BS EN 12560-7 does not extend to covered metal jacketed based heat exchanger gaskets with pass bars or large vessel gaskets but, in the lack of a dedicated document for such gaskets, the principles set down may be applied to them.
Who is BS EN 12560-7 - Covered metal jacketed gaskets for?
BS EN 12560-7 on covered metal jacketed gaskets is useful for:
- Gaskets manufacturers
- Flanges manufacturers
- Petrochemical industries
- Rubber industry
- Industries where gaskets are used
- Mechanical engineers
- Design engineers
- Quality control personnel

Why should you use BS EN 12560-7 - Covered metal jacketed gaskets?
Metal jacketed gaskets are particularly suitable for sealing the flat surfaces of heat exchangers, gas pipes, cast iron flanges, autoclaves and similar. Metal-jacketed gaskets are produced in several types to meet the requirements of the most demanding applications.
BS EN 12560-7 provides you with construction specifications for covered metal jacketed gaskets. BS EN 12560-7 guides you with the selection of material and the tolerance of the inside and the outside diameters of the metal jacket cross-section.
BS EN 12560-7 describes marking specifications for covered metal jacketed gaskets which will be marked with a colour code that identifies the metallic jacket core and the soft filler and covering layers.
BS EN 12560-7 guidelines help you to produce high-quality covered metal jacketed gaskets for use with steel flanges that have global acceptance in the market. BS EN 12560-7 is helpful in the selection of the gasket type and materials.
