What is BS EN IEC 62228‑5 about?
BS EN IEC 62228‑5 series specifies test and measurement methods for EMC evaluation of Ethernet transceiver ICs under network conditions. It defines test configurations, test conditions, test signals, failure criteria, test procedures, test setups and test boards. BS EN IEC 62228‑5 is applicable for the transceiver of the Ethernet systems.
BS EN IEC 62228‑5 covers:
- The emission of RF disturbances
- The immunity against RF disturbances
- The immunity against impulses
- The immunity against electrostatic discharges (ESD).
Who is BS EN IEC 62228‑5 for?
BS EN IEC 62228‑5 on EMC evaluation of transceivers of integrated circuits are useful for:
- Network and communication engineers
- The technician who knows about installation setup
- Electrician and workers who know wiring installation
Why should you use BS EN IEC 62228‑5?
BS EN IEC 62228‑5 series guidelines help you to apply standard test and measurement methods for Ethernet transceiver ICs under network conditions.
The intention of BS EN IEC 62228‑5 is to evaluate the EMC performance of Ethernet transceivers under application conditions in a minimal network.
The aim of BS EN IEC 62228‑5 is to determine the EMC performance on dedicated pins of the Ethernet transceiver which are considered as EMC relevant in the application. For an Ethernet transceiver, these pins are global pins like MDIP, MDIN, VBAT and WAKE as well as local pins like power supply inputs (VDDx). The global pin WAKE is given as an example and represents any global pin other than MDI and voltage supply VBAT.
