ISO 14743 discusses pneumatic fluid power. Pneumatic fluid power carries power by employing compressed gas, generally air, as a fluid for transmitting energy from an energy-generating source to an energy-using point to accomplish useful work. ISO 14743 specifies the general requirements and test methods for the design and performance of push-in connectors for use with thermoplastic tubes with outside diameters (OD) from 3 mm to 16 mm including dimensions in inches. ISO 14743 is intended to establish uniform methods of testing complete push-in connector assemblies as used in pneumatic fluid power applications.
Note: ISO 14743 is not applicable to air braking systems.
Who is ISO 14743 for?
ISO 14743 on pneumatic fluid power is useful for:
- Connectors manufacturers
- Design engineers
- Research and development facilities
Why should you use ISO 14743?
In pneumatic fluid power systems, power is transmitted and controlled through the air under pressure within a circuit. Components in this system are connected through their ports by means of connectors (fittings) and conductors. ISO 14743 discusses push-in connectors for thermoplastic tubes. These push-in connectors allow the wire to rotate inside them making it easier to place in a junction box.
ISO 14743 establishes minimum qualification requirements for tensile load, pressure capabilities, leakage, connection forces, disconnection forces and cyclic endurance (impulse) for pneumatic push-in connectors for use with thermoplastic tubes. Using ISO 14743 you can insert the push-in connector with outside diameters (OD) from 3 mm to 16 mm into the clamping point and establish a vibration-less and gas-tight connection.
What’s changed since the last update?
BS ISO 14743:2020 supersedes BS ISO 14743:2004. BS ISO 14743:2020 includes some technical changes with respect to BS ISO 14743:2004. These include:
- New fitting size including inch dimensions has been added
- New normative references have been added
- Updates on leakages performances and precisions have been added for cyclic endurance with vibration
